Shore
Shore
SHORE is an installation that translates a flowing river into light, inviting us into a world of flowing water.
In this work the relationship between Acket and acousticecologist Gordon Hempton is central. The sound you‘re hearing is the majestic Merced river in Yosemite national park in the US. Hempton recorded each sonic change from source to shore.
In an attempt to guide the visitors into a listening excersize the artist playfully turns around an often used quote by Hempton, that you can shift the importance of listening by putting a microphone on the world.
„In an attempt to help the world to become a listener,
this sound is amplified by light, making it more important to
listen to.“ - Boris Acket
