Einder Hydrosfeer
• Measurements: site specific
• Materials: fabric, motors, light, spatial sound, autonomous weather system software
The latest evolution in the Einder series introduces an autonomous control system, orchestrating light, sound, and movement through a generative engine that simulates three storm cells moving in and out of the installation space.
A thunderstorm progresses through three distinct stages: growth, maturity, and decay. Each stage generates its own unique scenario. Einder, Hydrosfeer mirrors these stages, with a system designed to elude complete control by the artists, thus redefining the series' ongoing exploration of control and surrender.
While the floating fabric is manipulated by linear vertical motors, the movements remain unique, with no two motions alike. As viewers lie beneath the fabric panels, they become acutely aware of the installation’s blend of control and chance—a dance of the unpredictable.
The sound design features a continuous interplay between artificial sounds crafted by Berlin’s KlingKlangKlong studio and natural recordings by acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton. This duet enhances the immersive experience, creating a symbiotic relationship between the synthetic and the natural.
Einder, Hydrosfeer invites us to witness the intricate balance of nature’s forces, encapsulated in a mesmerizing interplay of light, sound, and movement.
